Hoyt Buffalo arrow flight help

I shoot left handed. Arrow tailing into the bow (to my left). Is that to light or to strong spine? Shooting a 50@28 Hoyt Buffalo drawing it 27". Arrow is 2216 Easton Legacy cut 30" with 150 grain point.

I believe that is too strong of a spine.  Weak would curve around the bow when released.  Now I just looked at the Easton chart (which reads too stiff I think) and it says u have the right arrow.  Your arrow is a 376 spine which sounds way too stiff(to me) for your setup.  I am shooting a 57# @ 27.5 recurve, 29" shaft, 75 gr insert and 105 gr point.  My Axis arrows are only 400 spine, weaker than yours.  A friend recommended the spine for me and it was a little weaker than what the chart said to use.  However, my arrows fly great.  Maybe its not your spine?  Good luck.

I went to a 250 grain point which will make it a weaker spine and they tail away from the bow bad.
I ain't married to these shafts can someone give me a shaft and point weight that will work?
60" Hoyt Buffalo 50@28 drawing 27" would like to have about a 500 grain arrow.

I've got some of those cut to 32" with 215 grains up front and out of a 55 lbs bow and they still seem a little stiff. I would think that set up is way too stiff. I would get some Heritage Carbon Express 250 and leave them full length,and start around 175 or 200 grain tip. I've having the best luck with these shafts.

3 Rivers spine chart says carbon=400 aluminium=2117. That's with a 150 gr point. Both are 400 spine. Does that sound close?

I'm thinking on a 2114 is going to be closer to what you need in an aluminum. I think a .400 is still going to be too stiff.

You could get a 2016 to tune good

i shoot 50# buff too. i pull just shy of 28". 2016 at 29.5" with 125 grs up front fly great. can't get 2018 to fly very well. but 2020 cut to 30" with 145 up front fly well and hit hard.

Tom, I was shooting GT expedition hunter 55/75's with that bow. 175gr-200gr up front, if that helps.

2016's cut 29 1/2" with 150 gr point shoots good.

GT3555 around 28.5 or 29" with 50 gr brass inserts and 145 gr points. They will fly nice and do out of my 50#Buffalo.

I've tried about everything you can imagine short of wood  in my buffaloes .  I have settled on Easton axis full metal jackets 400 spine full length 75 grain brass insert and a 125 gr point with 3 5" shield cut feathers. I also have been shooting the new axis traditional shafts set up the same way. They fly like darts out of both my 50# and 55# bows my draw is 29"

That sounds great I would like to shoot Easton FMJ's but not sure a 400 will work you are drawing your 50lb Buffalo 2" more than me. I'm shooting 47 and your shooting 53. I think I'll buy a chop saw from Harbor Freight and a carbon arrow test kit from 3 Rivers when I go to carbon. For now the 29 1/2" 2016's with 150gr up front shoot good and weigh 506grs.

Tom: I used to shoot 2116's from 60-66# bows. If you want aluminum the 2016 sounds about right. I shoot 55# and shoot 400 Axis with 200 grains up front but I am shooting 28" and  a 29 shaft. I bet a  500 carbon Axis would be another good shaft for you. Cut them at 28" and play with point weight.

It have been shooting a lot at about 5 yards in my basement lately...I shoot a variety of bows both right and left handed with a variety of arrows that I have on hand...I am learning a lot about arrow spine from doing this...one of these days I am going to pay more attention and actually try to sort out exactly what I am learning...nothing wrong with shooting improperly spined arrows unless we are trying to kill an animal really...when i shot my bear in the spring i doubt that i got perfect arrow flight but i hit where i wanted to, got good penetration and the bear was dead in a few seconds
