Question about Center Back Quiver
« on: March 11, 2013, 06:09:00 PM »
Hey Gang, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the make and model of the quiver is in the Traditional Bowhunters magazine on page 8 of Apr/May 2013.  It's an ad for a Kodiak recurve, but in the ad they show what looks like a center back quiver.  Anyone have any idea what type of quiver this is and if it is still available.

Thanks in advance!

Bear brought that Center Back Quiver, out after seeing the one Glenn St. Charles made for himself, and then made it too.  The one you ask for sells on line and maybe in the classifieds. Many are worn, and need new stitching. The Bear model came with an optional Hood, and had an opening at the bottome to take out arrows when the hood was on. Fred Bear used it to carry some extra arrows. Might find more pictures at the Bear website, books, catalogs 1956-1960?, or links at the following site>

You might get some info, by asking on the collecting forum.

My cousin back in '70 bought the Bear Northwoods quiver, some call it the Nimrod quiver. I really liked it and was very functional. He doesn't bowhunt anymore and won't part with it. I also had an original St Charles...still have somewhere.

Pics..first is the Bear Northwoods, then next 2 are similar variations of the St Charles quiver. The Northwoods had a small cover to protect the feathers. Arrows slipped through bristles and then seated in the bottom Small opening is where you grabbed the arrow.

The hunter in the Bear Kodiak Ad is wearing a Nimrod quiver offered prior to the Northwoods in Joe's post and prior to the St Charles quiver.

The Nimrod he is wearing was also offered with an upper cuff and a storm cap made of cordoroy
