Scent Killer Sprays?

Hello gang.  What brand scent killer spray do you use?   I had dead down wind last year and it works well, but is pricey... Any good alternatives worth exploring.  Blessings

Baking soda and water,Mix it up in the bottles you through away from buying the cover scent,I hand wash all of my clothes in a tub of cold water and  baking soda,,works great and will actually absorb sent some,,I try and smell like nothing so nothing is new to the deers nose,,J

I have had great success with Scent Killer...but baking soda is hard to beat price wise.

I generally use the HS Scentaway sprays. They work very well.

I just picked up a bottle of that Dead Down Wind scent elliminater and laundry soap. Any one try this stuff yet?

I'm with whitebuffalo, they're all baking soda and water, I only buy it 'cause I'm too lazy to make it.

Same as WB. I also grab aromatic local plants and rub them all over my clothing.

I have a hunting buddy who is a Police K-9 Handler and we were discussing "scent-killer" sprays.....

Long story short, I drove to a wooded area and left my car unlocked. I sprayed myself from head to toe with "scent-killer" then walked about a mile through the woods and set down. 3 hours later,he brought his dog to my car,let him get a good sniff of the drivers seat.....

20 minutes later,he and his dog,and 2 other officers were standing next to me.

I use that HS stuff too, seems to me like it works pretty well, but I'm of the opinion that no matter what kinda fancy scent killing clothes you buy or stuff you spray on, a deer will smell you if the wind is wrong.  My favorite example is a few friends that consistently shoot the biggest bucks of anyone I know and always smoke cigarettes everywhere they go in the woods !! It used to drive me crazy!  I just play the wind the best I can.
From the little I know about scenting dogs, I think its the ground disturbance that they were able to follow.  The only way I can figure to avoid that is to jump from tree to tree.  I think I might give that a try this year   . I'll keep you guys posted.

I make my own, Baking soda & I get some leaves, twigs, plants and boil them down and let them cool makes a great spray... read that in TBM

I`m a baking soda and water guy,but I also use skunk skreen cover scent. I almost never have a deer smell me unless the wind is gusty. A deputy friend and his buddies used to hang out at my welding shop a lot,and they would bring their drug dogs with them. We put weed in a cardboard box with different cover scents to test them. The only one the dogs could`nt smell the dope with was the skunk scent.I`ve used it for over thirty years now and have absolute faith in it. Unfortunately the brand I use has`nt been made in several years now and I`m getting low and worried.

I bought some Scent Killer back in '93 on a whim, and found that it worked better than I ever expected.

    I had been invited by my friend to hunt his in-laws place in TX on the Pease river.I had never been there before, it was dark, and I had no idea where the stand was. He told me I'd see the reflective tacks as I went down the trail with my flashlight. He didn't mention that I had to shine the light kinda back behind me at a certain point to see the reflectors. I didn't find the stand until it started to get light out. Disgusted, I was gonna head back to the car, but figured I might as well sit in the stand for a couple of hours cause I didn't want to go trudging back through the place and maybe spook deer that the others might have a chance at getting. So I climbed up and sat there thinking I was in for a long boring sit. Boy was I wrong! I hadn't sat there for 30 minutes before I heard the unmistakable footsteps of deer behind me. It turned out to be three does, who were heading my way and passed directly under me.They came up the exact same way that I had  come, and seemed completely unawares of my presence. I was only about 8 feet up in a tree that was bowed over,and my feet were hanging down  only  a couple of feet over their backs. I figured when they got downwind they would spook but, they never did. Nor did they show any signs of being alarmed at all. I had never been that close to a deer in my life. It was great, except for the fact that  Wilbarger Co. TX (in those days) was buck only for archery season. So I just watched em as they fed along until they got out of sight. I also had a little fork horn come along within 15 yds that morning, only he wouldn't come completely out of the brush for a clear shot. He also got downwind of me unawares. I even got to watch him work over a few small saplings on his way through.  

I wrote all that just to say that, even though  I was skeptical at first about the scent killer, I  became a "believer" that day. I didn't get a shot ,but getting close enough to deer to count the hairs on their back(especially since I thought I blew it) was a successful hunt in my book.
