Ray/Shawn...we open in May...same as you, Shawn. By then it can be almost too late. I shot a nice tom opening morning last year and after that the toms were scarce. Right now and thru most of April the birds are very busy, visible and respond to calls almost immediately. The bird in the pic is the biggest I have seen around here. There is a group of them (longbeards) but when this guy is around all he does all day is chase them off. There's a ton of jakes but I really want to get this guy...if not me then Laura. Just so you know.....the feeder is not where we hunt as it is illegal to bait turkeys in NH. We have almost 6 acres and I typically set up 2 blinds. I had the CO over one day on another issue and asked him about the blinds and if he thought one in particular might be too close. He was OK with my set up. My biggest problem is what arrows to shoot. My new MAX I limbs really spits out an Axis 400 but the 340's group better, hit harder and to my eye are only a bit slower than the 400's. I need the snow to melt some more so I can stump shoot a bit and see what arrows those limbs like best.
