Arrow set up
« on: March 21, 2013, 02:15:00 PM »
My bow is a 55lb recurve with a metal compound riser and a NAP center rest. My draw length is about 27 inches. What do you guys think about 2117 with helical fletching, 28 1/2 inch length, 150 grain point. Note I am new shooter and while I am building my accuracy every day bare shafting would not be helpful at this point as I would not be certain whether or not it is the arrow or my form. Sorry second post in a few minutes but, your guy's knowledge is greatly appreciated.

Where at in Mo?
Best bet would be getting with some old coots for some shooting.

You may be good with the 2117 but I'd leave them long till you get dialed in .

Strong second on leaving them long. If you're drawing 27" and your bow is 55# @ 28", your actual draw weight is only around 53# +- a bit. That's very close to 2 of my bows at my draw length and I can shoot 30.5" 2117's with 175 points.

Nice area to be! Back when I was an applications engineer living in St Louis, we had some customers in Arkansas. rather than fly down, I'd drive and make a loop up through Warsaw on my way back. Bishop and Fajen both had stock-making operations there and the scrap they threw out in a firewood pile was a gold mine for a knife maker. Scraps from a $500 or $1000 stock blank for free. I'd come home with two shopping bags full of walnut, zebra wood, myrtle and a lot of unidentified stuff. Didn't buy any handle wood until we left MO.
