Alternative to Gasket Lacquer?

Looking for something to seal shafts, other than gasket Lacquer.  Have used the old standbys, spar varnish, poly, etc.  Looking for something that won't cause cresting to run.  I know...let it dry good first!
Just wondering what is being used.
I don't worry about my arrows.  But I'm making a few custom arrows and want to see whats out there.  Have been out of the arrow making (for others) for years.

I use fast drying poly in either the can or spray can, holds up good and is inexpensive. And if your impatient like me you can apply two coats of poly in the morning and by evening you can start fletching.

I use polycrylic out of a dip tube.  It is over rustoleum crown dip and testors enamel cresting.  These are on carbon arrows and I fletch with duco cement.

I used water based poly on most of the arrows I made that I crested and crowned without issues.

Zip Guard, I have been using it for about 25 years and my cresting does not run. I can dip in about 5 min after cresting. I use testor model paints.

With the zip guard you can clear over any paint for your crown, I make snake skin arrows and can dip over the snake skins with it. You only need 2 dips one after staining and one after cresting, Get it in a gloss finish since it is a harder finish and if you want it to look satin just steel wool it. I use Fletch Tite Plantinum if I just use a stain crown. If I use paint for the crown I use duco.

Craig, how does that finish hold up to target burn in 3d targets?
Also, why the different fletching glues depending upon stain or paint?

I use water base poly also...... great stuff. I use it on wood shafts. Drys fast, tough, and holds with fletching tape.

Using the Raptor archery finish.  3 dips.  You can dip final coat over the cresting with no issues.  I use testors for cresting.  Also you can use laquer or acrylic.

Someone mentioned this in the thread.  If you give your arrows a little squirt of Armorall on the shaft, they will pull easy and no target burn on gasket dipped shafts.

Actually, that's one reason I use gasket lacquer now is that it has virtually no burn on 3D targets. But I'm always on the lookout for alternatives to everything.

Thanks for all the input.  Like I said its been years since I did "custom arrows" for other folks.  I do strictly wood or cane.
Jeff, I didn't know they had real stores down there!  Do they stock chiggers?

fletch tite will bond into it and if I use krylon spray paint you need to use duco. Some target burn but not bad at all.
This arrow has been around for about 7 years and looks and shoots great.

If I were to crest some carbons with spray paint then seal with some type of poly ( a few coats), would I be able to use super glue to glue down the feathers? Or would it "eat " thru the poly and paint? If so, what's the alternative . Thanks , GBH
