I have had two, a Ventura and a Hunter...I think for a new shooter an older Howatt is about the best way to get into traditional archery...if my 200ish dollar Hunter was the only bow I owned I would still be a happy bowhunter (and I own bows that cost well over a grand)...just wish sometimes I had a shorter draw length....some of the nicest ones from back in the sixties are just too short for me...love to have a nice old Hi-Speed

I am a fan of Damon Howatt bows,I have had quite a few of them over the years. The ones I still have are my Savannah and my Hunter. They have been around I believe since the 50's.I think they have some great designs and excellent quality bows. They will shoot just as good as any bow out there in my opinion. My Hunter is a 2008 model and is fast and quiet.I bought my Savannah new years ago when they first came out and still have and shoot it.They are solid well built bows in my opinion!

Howatt bows are some of the best. The Hunter has been around longer than me and for good reason. I have had a ton of DH / Martin bows over the years and only had one I did not like.

They are as good as it gets, I own several high dollar customs and 1 Howatt + 2 Martins all recurves. They easliy stand up to the customs in overall quality and any measure of performance.

Thanks for the input. I have an opportunity to buy one for seventy five bucks. It looked like a nice bow. The one I'm shooting now is a Great Tree Osprey. It's forty pound. The DH is fifty at 28".

Great bows. I bet that 50@28 will actually be 53@28. Many Howatts will weigh in about 3 lbs heavier than marked.

Bowlvr, I recently purchased a Howatt Hi-Speed. A great shooter and is my go to bow. Top of the line in there day. What model is it and 75 bucks would be a steal.

First bow I ever bought was a DH Coronado, 47@28... love that bow and I still have it. I mostly shoot long bows now, and though I hate to admit it, I really shoot better with that little old Coronado that any of my long bows.
You won't regret picking up an old Damon Howatt.

I've owned several Damon Howatt bows ( as I grew up and only lived 75 miles from Yakima ) over years, most of which I wish I still had
I do still have a beautiful Multi Laminate, Rosewood, Super Diablo which was very hard to find... I'm not planing on letting it go anytime very soon, but my "bum" bow arm may at some point say differently.. Right now I'm sellng off several very high $ customs but have as yet not considered selling the S/D....
The original Damon Howatt bows are IMO, the best Factory built {but still built by hand) bows available to those able to find them.

Wow. Thanks guys. I think I'm gonna splurge and get this bow. Lol. It is the DH. Hunter. It's in pretty good condition. Thank y'all for the input. I've recently switched back from a wheel bow and am In love again. I want a little more umph. And this sounded like a " to good to pass" deal.
Thanks again.

Just remember a good deal on a recurve is like a "free" cat...that is just the beginning....since I bought my first recurve about 4 years ago I have probably bought and sold and traded 6 grand worth of bows...I have around 15 trad bows right now, one being made, one on the bowyers list, and one in stock that I need to phone about...and two others that I am thinking about...and...oh well, you get the picture
