Takedown comparable to Kanati

I'm looking for a 3 piece takedown with performance similar to a Kanati. Has anybody found a bow that has a grip and feel that comes close? I am considering a Timberghost, Black Creek Banshee, or a Journeyman Longbow. Any other suggestions?

I am not sure about how similar it is, but I highly recommend a TimberGhost. They are great bows!!!

my vote would be for the t/d banshee, very nice bow, stable, quiet,very dead in the hand and Jim is a great guy to deal with, i have shot all of his bow models.i am currently shooting his newest model the Phantom XL. you wont be sorry with any of his bows

I'm a big fan of kanatis. I love mine. But this type of bow is LIGHT and SHORT and SMALL handle riser so looking for something in a 3pc  is going to be a challenge. I'm hoping JK eventually does a bow bolt or something of the like.
In spite of all this. I've shot Jared's Journey man bows. And I have one on order I can't say it feels like a kanati. But you won't be disappointed. Check out his website he has lots of pictures of his work.

My RER XR riser is the closest I have found to the feel and grip size of my Kanati. Steve also makes a longbow version as well as a combo with both longbow and static recurve limbs. My RER is also lighter than most three piece bows I have handled. While is is certainly heavier that a Kanati, it is very light for this type of bow. Steve TerMaat at RER is also great to deal with and his customer service is second to none.

The main reason I fell in love with the RER is because it feels like my Kanati in my hand. I'd highly recommend one.

For a 3 piece takedown don't overlook a fire fly. Fantastic grip, fast and very quiet . Great bow at a great price and Jim is great to work with .

Like duffer said you can't beat a Firefly.I've owned both a Kanati and still own a fly.The grips as good or better ,available in all exotic woods, available in longer lengths,it takes down and I like the shooting qualitys of the fly better.Jim Suttinger has a beauty on the classifieds right now if you can handle 58#.Tim at Braveheart is a great fella to deal with that carrys Fireflys.

I will look into the Firefly. I would consider the one in the classifieds if I was a righty. Being left handed makes finding used bows a bit challenging.

I also had a Banshee for a while. They are very well made, fast and quiet, but the grip is quite different from a Kanati and much too big to suit me. If you are a fan of the Kanati grip, like me, you will probably not care for the Banshee grip. They are sweet bows, but they don't fit my hand. The grip angle and size of the RER is almost identical to the Kanati.

The RER bows are great, but I have been out of the loop for little while.  A little over a year ago, Kevin was still running the business and building bows.

The striker fast back has a smaller grip and riser that might be comparable to a kanati. They are really cool looking bows. If you tell Rick Ellis what you want, I'm sure he can accommodate your needs.
You should also check out Java man bows. Gregg Coffee, former Boyer of shrew bows, makes some really great bows that he offers in a two piece. And I know he can make a grip identical to a kanati.

the wolverine or Slynx from Cari bow or Dan Toelke's longbows (whip TD or Lynx 3 piece) may be a good options too.

Blackcreek(Jim)makes an awesome bow! That said I believe a lot of custom bowyers could make you the grip you want on their 3 piece models. Two-piece would be a great option and do not take up much more space than a 3 piece. Shawn

I owned a Kanati (and passed it along when I just had to have more weight) and have a FireFly that will never leave my possession, and will be handed down to my children.  

That's not to say that the Kanati wasn't fantastic - it was, so much so I really, really want to get another one - but it was nothing like my Firefly.  The Kanati felt light in hand, swift and purposeful.  The Firefly feels solid, sure, and full-gripped.  To me they just felt very different, but both were outstanding.  

I think you'll have a difficult time trying to find the feel of a one piece Kanati in a three piece take-down.  You'd be better served looking at a 2 piece, something like a Shrew.  The Shrew I had felt very similar to the Kanati, just a little more full in the grip (it had a leather wrap...)

Just my $.02 - there just too many great bows out there to even start chasing around...
