October 31 Halloween 2012 PM Hunt
Sat up top again because I havent been there in awhile. It was in the 40s so I gt out early and was in the stand at 3:15 seen 3 deer around 4:35 down below about 60yards. Im pretty sure they were the same deer I seen opening day of bow season. They fed off down the trail then behind me well out of bow range. Around 5:30 I spot a buck walking directly ahead of me about 50yards walking broadside. I can tell hes going to continue going that way so I hit my Primos Buck Roar and gave a soft quick grunt. He put on the brakes, stares then starts coming my way! He goes to the scrape thats 15yards away then comes to 5yards and starts thrashing a tree. After that he does a complete 360 around my stand. He started to walk off so I got desprate and grunted again. He looked but began to walk away! I snort wheezed and here he comes on a string, He comes in with his head behind a tree at 10yards and I begin my draw and im at half draw when he presents himself. I kept drawing and got to anchor I held for a second and pulled in to the clicker. In a flash the arrow blew through the deer, a little back but still in the vitals. He ran a few yards stopped and slowly walked off a hundred yards then over the hill. I eased out of the stand and went home. Shortly after it began to rain. I showed my Uncle the arrow and he said it was a dead deer from the blood. Went back the next morning to find no deer what could have happend?

My Uncle ran into another guy who hunts the property next to mine. He said on Halloween night he had a 4pt buck some run to his treestand next to a pond with coyotes on his tail. He said they killed the buck next to the pond and he watched it all. He didnt see my Uncle sooner but I was able to salvage the rack off my first trad deer. It was a good day.
I shot my buck with a 56lb Kempf Kustom Hunter Cedar Shafts and 160gr 2blade STOS Broadhead.. Thanks for reading!
