Making yellow turkey feathers

Hey guys i have a question for those of you who may have done this... I need to make a nice canary yellow to match the wraps I have, I prefer the kool aid method worked out great for me, I'm wonder what are the best colors to mix to obtain my goal? Thanks guys!

Use yellow Rit cloths dye and the same method as with the Cool-Aid

Thanks pat! Can you use too much f the rit? Or just add till desired color is achieved ?

I haven't found a way to use too much yet. The length of time they are left in solution can impact the degree of,coloration.

Lots of fun to do but put something down on the counters to protect. Drying feathers can leave marks that wives don't care for.

I like koolaid also, BUT found the yellow lemon NOT very yellow(red, blue, green, orange are great)I'll be watching this one (purple grape also not great)

In my exp, too much rit will turn the feather orange.

Got plenty of left-over easter egg dye, will this work for feathers???/

yes easter egg dyes work feathers and egg shell are made out of the same coligen(as is your hair and finger nails)
Koolaid dyeing: 3 packs of your flavor/color white vinger, dish soap and three containers and a way to heat dye.
 
1st step wash feathers in warm water w 2 drops dish soap 5min soak.aggitate water (cutting oils in feathers)
2nd container clean water table spoon of vinger 2min soak(getting rid of soap)
3rd place dye in container with water and table spoon of vinger heat(not boiling) add feathers colors will darken with longer time and or adding more dye(koolaid)(may have to reheat) heat puts the dye into the feathers vinger makes it
perminat.

last step rinse in cool water lay flat to dry   cherry red, blue rasberry  orange( the two tone was a yellow feathers dipped in cherry red)

cake frosting dye (1/2 t-spoon), distilled water and a t-spoon of vinegar.  You can use warm water so there is no need to heat water up to set the dye.  I did some this winter and they came out real good. Cake frosting dye is less that $2.00 a small jar.

Just wait till you see the looks you get when you tell them you dye with koolaid          any food dye works. Looking forward to seeing your Yellow feathers
