New Black Creek Phantom XR! Awesome!
« on: April 22, 2013, 10:01:00 AM »
I went to John Sullins house yesterday to start our weekly braggin rights mini tournament with Jim Gainey and Lonnie Shepard (I came in second)and got to shoot Jim's new Phantom XR (I got one ordered). All I can say is AWESOME! That thing is quiet, super fast, and perty! It runs a 7-7 1/2" brace height and at 57@28 with a 520gr arrow, it was shooting around 190fps thru the chrono. It was dead in hand and the grip felt great with a little palm swell. I don't know what else to say, it was an extremely great shooting bow!

Andrew, that bow is actually my personal bow. I'm just now getting the phantom xtreme series into production.  There is the phantom xl(xtreme longbow) and the phantom xr(xtreme recurve).  I normally shoot 47-52, but that 57lber is so smooth it doesn't feel like 57 lbs.  I shoot it really well. I don't see me building me another bow for quite some time.

Jim, makes an absolutely sweet bow. I have shot a few of his longbows and they are smokers and beautiful. Great looking recurve as well! Shawn

I am not left handed and can't pull that many pounds so I did not get to shoot it. But I was there and can verify the chrono. It does shoot very well!

i havent shot the Phantom xr but i have the Phantom xl and i can tell you the same is true with the longbow version. i have not shot anything smoother or more dead in the hand as Jims bow, ecspecially the Phantom.my Phantom xl is 48lbs at 28" and 60" long and shoots a 405 grain arrow at 180 fps.if your thinking about tring one you wont be sorry, Jim is a great guy and builds a great bow!!!

I will second Jims mention of the bow (XR) feeling much lighter then it actually is.  His #57 really feels about like a #53 or so, very smooth.

I was surprised, the draw weight felt lighter than my 55# martin.
