Cavalier Elite Tabs?
« on: August 27, 2007, 06:05:00 PM »
Do any of you TradGangers use the Cavalier Elite tab for hunting? All my target friends use them and I wondered if they work well in hunting situations. I like my NEET calfhair tabs, but I modify them by gluing in an extra layer of leather, and the hair wears out quickly.Your thoughts?

Got my first one this year from Git-R-Done.  http://git-r-donearchery.com/  It is the cordovan  and has outlasted every glove I have tried.Last year I wore out 5 gloves.
I like it so much I just got a spare in case I loose the first one. After several months of shooting lots of arrows it is not showing any wear at all and I have yet to get sore fingers.

I am using a Cavalier Elite tab, too. Works very well for me.
I am also carrying a Saunders "Fab Tab" in my spares bag in case I lose my primary tab.

I trimmed mine and I know Pete trimmed his as well.  I don't use the space as I shoot 3 under now, but I did for a while when I shot split.

One only has to observe Brian ( Carbon Caster ) and Pete Ward shoot with the tab to understand how better one can be  :)

These two fine gentlemen are top notch when it comes to launching an arrow....

When I seen that, I also switched to the same tab these guys had....

The Cavalier is also a great hunting tab.....A hint to my Canadian friends though....a thin piece of felt, leather, or moleskin, makes the aluminum plate more comfortable against the face at 0 degrees or COLDER...BRRRRBBBB LOL

No contest.  The cordovan wears like iron and is slick as frog snot.

just can't seem to get the feel for one.  I try it every now and then and it is so radical from my glove that I just can't shoot it.  I did have to mole-skin the face as i tore up my thumb when I shoot.  Maybe I am doing something wrong.....

A year ago a tab felt as weird to me as putting on a pair of pants on backwards.  It took me almost 2 months to get to where it felt normal.  Now I can't imagine shooting a glove again.

I had always shot with a glove, and every tab I tried felt weird. I tried several and would shoot with them a bit, and go right back to my glove. The first time I tried the Cav, I liked it immediately. By the end of the session, it felt perfectly natural, so I knew this was the one. The plate makes all the difference for me, so I could probably get used to any with a rigid plate. Anyway, now the glove feels weird....
