We finally got some spring weather, so this morning was very nice. I got to a public hunting area (archery only) to watch the moon go down over the mountains…
The sunrise was nice, and I could hear some turkeys gobbling in the distance…
Yesterday, I had seen a group of about 30 birds, all on the wrong side of the fence, and tried to coax one of them over, but they were pretty well henned up, so I tried another area with the same results today. Guess which side of the fence the birds were on….
The morning was far from a bust, however. I saw at least 100 deer, both whitetails and mulies, several antelope, geese and ducks out the wazoo, and scenes like this…
I don't know if I will fill my turkey tag or not, but getting out with bow in hand is reward in and of itself. There are certainly worse places in the world to be….
