Wyoming black bear info
« on: April 26, 2013, 03:00:00 PM »
Hey gang, hopefully some of you wyoming guys will chime in here.
I have access to private property in the black bear unit 7 between cheyenne and larimie near harriman road. As far as I can tell baiting is allowed in that area. I was wondering if anyone knows how long it takes or how hard it is to draw an out of state tag up there? Also, how's the bear population in that area, which is in the foothills/mountains between cheyenne and larimie?
Every year the landowner loses several calves and blames it on the bears and coyotes so who knows how many there actually are in that area. I'm just thinking about trying to get one in the future and wanted to know what you guys think.
Now then, get your weapons, your quiver and your bow and go out into the open country to hunt some wild game for me.- Genesis 27:3

I could be wrong but I believe bear tags are over the counter, no drawing.  At least it used to be that way in WY.  We always used to get bear tags when elk hunting there.  At that time (mid '90's) they were only $50, now I think they're in excess of $350...Wow!  Best of luck!

You can buy a bear license online or OTC. I don't know much about the specific area you are looking at, so I can't comment on bear numbers. In general terms, Wyoming bear hunting is probably not as good as some of Colorado, Montana or Idaho, but maybe you are on to a honey hole. I see the quota on sows in that area is 3 for this spring. This link might be of interest.

Anyone know about the bait site registration? I am afraid I missed the deadline this year, not sure tho as the website is somewhat confusing maybe I'm not too late for fall
