Feather wear?
« on: April 29, 2013, 09:41:00 PM »
I get feather wear on bottom hen feather a lot. I shoot cock feather out. Is this caused by nock too low or too high or what? I shoot 3 fingers under. My nocking point is one in. above 0. It was at 3/4 above, it seems to worse at one inch. Thank you.

Shoot cock feather up. I had that same issue.

Are you using two nocking points?  If not, the arrow may slide on the string at release.  An inch high seems too high, even for three under.  Could be your arrow is porposing before/as it leaves the bow, which would accentuate hen feather contact with the shelf.

I thought the hen feather just wore out more because it slid across the shelf every time.  I thought that was normal.  My "shelf" hen feathers wear more than the others.  But I do get a good straight launch.  I'm not an expert. lol

Not sure what material you are using on the shelf. Velcro is pretty hard on feathers.
