South Mississppi Hogs
« on: May 15, 2013, 04:28:00 PM »
Anyone know a place to chase piggies in late July in south Mississippi. Could be public or private. Heading down for a wedding and thought I may as well make the most of it.

Late July is tough down here. Really hot and humid.  I have hunted pigs the Pearl River that time of year on private land with success, but you pretty much have to hunt late or at night, which is legal.

All the river bottoms have pigs though.  Pearl, Big Black, MS, etc.
Most religions teach that you earn salvation by keeping rules. Jesus didn't teach that "good people" go to heaven. He taught that "forgiven people" go to heaven. And He invited everyone, no matter what their past, to come to Him and be forgiven.

Private land hunting only this time of year (fellow Mississippian correct me if i'm wrong). Public land season went out the end of Turkey season Apr 30th.  So it only open on private and hunting at night is legal, but there are rules you need to know, landower permission carried on you (shelf life of 30 days), notification to the regional Game and Fish office if hunting at night, etc...
Everything I have and have become is due to the Lord and his great mercy.

Hunt at night period around crops in late afternoon if possible. After Late April they seem to be nocturnal.

Where are you going for the wedding and what dates? We've got some land down on the Bouie River.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Figured that time of year is not the most ideal but any excuse to get in the woods is all I need.

there used to be a bunch of hogs in the SW corner of the Honey Island Swamp, and even more W of that area.   This was many years back, but still may be worth a try.

Yes, all the public land hunting that time of year is closed.
