Said So Long To Another Good Friend (Bow That Is)
« on: May 17, 2013, 07:18:00 AM »
A couple weeks ago (or less) a friend brought another friend over to introduce to me and see/shoot my home range. Seems (like a lot of you) Jimmy knew I was the proud owner of two Hoots made Anneewakee Addiction bows, "Blackie" and "Brownie", and had been telling Forrest about them. Jimmy had shot both of them and knew Brownie (the one I bought from Don "batman" Batten) ws 4" longer, and 3 lbs. lighter than my original luv, Blackie. They had been discussing Hoots bows and Forrest was fired up to try one.

Being, (as most are well aware) a proud supporter of Anneewakee Addictions and Hoots Bows, I was more than happy to oblige, and let "my girls" show off their stuff. Both Jimmy and Forrest (and I) spent a good 3 hours shooting the bows (and the bull). In general we had a great time and like the first time I ever shot either/both of the bows, They fell in love with them both. However I could tell by forrest's reactions and continuing "flirting" whith Brownie that there was a lot more going on there than innocent flirtation. By the end of our enjoyable "Trad Guys" session, Forrest was almost begging me to sell Brownie to him. Well, I've always been a sucker for a grown man who gets that worked up over a bow (you know, eyes watering , tongue lolling and all). So I told him to go home and think about it and if he still felt the same I would sell her to him. He affirmed that he definitely wanted her and would be back in about two weeks, If i was sure. I told him that i wasn't trying to sell her so he didn't have to fear I would sell her out from under him.

Yesterday (a little less than two weeks) Forrest showed up with a gleam in his eyes still flashing, with my asking price in hand (the same thing I paid Don a couple years back). Forrest aand I spent another couple hours shooting (the bows and the bull, of course) and we parted (both wit moist eyes and new friends.

Please don't think of me as a slave trader! You guys know what I'm talking about, you  been there, done that , at least once. Besides, it's time I got back to shooting my original "Blackie" girl on a steady basis. As a matter of fact I took her back out/out back yesterday evening for a lone, get-together shoot. We had a great time then too - LOL  I'll be willing to bet Forrest was having a similar get-acquainted date in his back yard too.     ;)      :archer:

I know how you feel....  invite friends or family over to shoot some of my bows....and they end up wanting to buy one.  I have sold or given away a few like that....Browning Nomad, Browning Wasp, Browning Explorer, Jeffery Royal Hunter, Noble Longbow, Robertson Montana Falcon...and most recently my sweet Protege' Longbow by Lee Robinson that my nephew fell absolutely in love with.  He asked how much it cost new and I told him what it went for new....what I paid...then he hit me with FAMILY DISCOUNT. LOL  I am not selling his first bow, a Ben Pearson Mustang to get some money for my longbow he now "owns"...LOL   Isnt it great!?!?!?
