Getting paper targets printed?
« on: May 22, 2013, 06:51:00 PM »
Hi Guys,

I'm interested in having some custom, paper, archery targets made.  I usually purchase a few at a time from a local printer, but they cost around $4.00 for a black & white, 24"X36", digital print on standard weight paper.  I'm interested in purchasing larger quantities to get the price down, but I don't know the lingo or what kind of printing I actually need.  The paper would have to be fairly heavy weight, and the ink would have to be waterproof.  Does anybody know specifically what I need to be looking for and/or what kinds of companies do bulk over-sized prints?  I would be making these for personal use and to sell.  Any help to put me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

Paul our graphic guy says, 4.00 is a very good price. you could look at a 't' shirt shop that does silk screening, have it done on tyvex house wrap, would be totally waterproof. Burt

Paul, google Maple Leaf Press, Grand Haven, Michigan.  Printing archery targets is their business.  Hope this helps.  If you can't find them under google, let me know I will drive down and get you the info so you can call them.

I've recently came across "duramesh" targets. they are printed on some type of waterproof mesh. I believe they were around 30"x30" or a bit smaller. I'm tempted to try one, but they run around $14.

How detailed  do you need the targets to be? For rifle shooting, I cut a stencil with an exacto that I use to spraypaint targets. I get a big pad of newsprint from an art supply shop and have 50 targets for about $8.

Wow, in my own town and I didn't even know.

Paul, I have some to print too so let's get together and I'll go talk to them.
