Recurve to hybrid = new arrows?

Hey all, I shoot a static recurve that pulls about 60 at my draw of 30.5 I've got carbon express 350s which have about a 320 spine with a 100gr insert and 125 up front. Shafts are 32 1/4. Total weight about 650.

Now these things are just made for my bow, even out at fifty-five yards they fly dead straight and land dead straight (unless of course I shoot them crap)

Well I've recently ordered a hybrid longbow Which I was thinkng of getting made 43 at 28 or about 48 by the time it hits my cheek.

It's occurred to me I might need need all new arrows though, I don't mind if they're slower but will they still be accurate?

And if I went up to about 50 at 30 would it be okay?

The center cut of your new bow will have a lot to do with it, but I'm thinking CE 150's would be a good starting place for you.

your current arrows are going to be way way to stiff unless you throw a ton more tip weight on and then they will be total dogs compared to what your currently shooting. Like was said above, depending on how the cut is on your new bow, especially if its a normal longbow riser, you will need greatly weaker spine.

Your 350s will be toooooo stiff for your new bow.  And I think 150s will be tooooo weak a spine.  I am shooting right at 50 lbs with a 30 inch 250. tip weight with insert, head and 50 grn brass is about 200 grns.  Total arrow weight is about 569 grns.  Flies well. I'd go with 250.

Part of the joy of a new bow is matching it up with a nice set of tuned arrows...nothing wrong with that

I tend to do things the other way around...I try to buy bows that match the arrows that I already have...the last bow that I bought finally is tuning nicely with some old 2317's that I have

Tuning is a lot more about how arrows shoot at 5 yards than it is about how arrows shoot at 55 yards...the ones at 55 have had another 50 yards to correct

Well I guess it's back to the drawing board. Question, is the insert included in the point weight on spine charts?

With conventional aluminum inserts the weight of the insert would have no detectable influence on spine...there are inserts made of steel and brass and these would affect spine...I like to err on the side of lots of foc and seldom shoot broad heads lighter than 175 grains

Oops, should have mentioned that, yeah I meant 100gr brass inserts. It looks like for that weight I'll need a 400 spine as opposed to the 320 on the heritage 350s
