Hi tradgang,
Recently I've just acquired my first trad bow. So since then I've been looking for minor trinkets to make my now feel more personal to me. I saw that a bow sling might be what I want to start with in trad shooting so I started looking for a compatible one. But my riser doesn't have a threaded insert for stabs (first gen blackswan riser), and a Kanati sling is way out since I don't know if I'll even use a sling in the future. What else could I do? I made my own.
My bow sling doesn't require a threaded insert or a rubberized riser grip to hold it in place. Best is that all the tinkerers out there can grad readily available supplies and start building one. The only thing I bought was a keychain clip for SGD$0.80 (I'm Singaporean).
So here is my sling, made of 550 paracord and a keychain clip.
I used a caterpillar/chain sinnet instead of the more common diamond stitch. This gives the loop something to catch on to hold the riser in place. A cobra stitch over the chain sinnet gives more support and is much more comfortable IMO.
This is how the keychain hook attaches back onto the sling.
