Questions about the Samick Sage recurve

Hello everyone
My Family and I just ordered the Samick Sage with a fast flight string for my Dad on Fathers day. Now that we have put on the string we noticed that its REALLY loud and its supposed to be a hunting string right?
Any suggestions?

No string on any recurve is going to quiet enough to hunt with without some sort of string silencers...just do a search on here for string silencers and you will soon have way more options to choose from than you could possibly want

Order some bowhush and hushpuppies and that will get you there. But first adjust your brace height which will reduce noise, vibration,and hand shock. By the way the Samick Sage is a great bow and they are very dependable. You can't beat it for the price.

One of my son's has a Sage and it's a great bow for the money.  But the first thing you need to do with just about any "factory" bow is dump the original string and get a real one.  The difference is astounding.

Ive shot a lot of recurves and the Sage shoots better than a lot of high dollar bows I've shot.
I would recommend a XS2, or D-97 fast flight string, it will make a big difference. Rubber Cat whisker silencers are hard to beat. My brother's Sage is quiet at 8 1/4 inch brace height, he pulls 28 inches. By the way, his Sage has a d-97 string on it. The bow is real quiet and dead in the hand.
Dont use the factory string, set it aside as a backup.

Forgot to mention, brace height will vary due to personal preference but 7 3/4 to 8 1/4 should work. Higher the brace height the quieter the bow...generally.

mine is set at 8 1/4. I have rubber cat whiskers on it, and its very quiet. I was using a fairly heavy arrow also.

That's been my experience.  Even with some of the more expensive bows, it appears the string came from whoever put in the lowest bid.

A flemish string with padded loops,correct silencer placement and tuning, proper nock fit, etc. will do wonders for quieting a bow.

I like Dynaflight '97, but am leaning more towards 8190.  Less stretch, less creep, more durability.

For my Sage, I used a fast flight string and yarn type string silencers. Truly amazing how quiet it got! Love the bow.

I work at Cabela's in the archery dept and we sell a ton of Samick Sage bows. As mentioned, for the money they are actually really nice shooters. Much better shooters than I would have expected, in that price range.

That said, the factory string leaves much to be desired. Everytime I sell a Sage, I strongly suggest keeping the factory string for a backup and getting a dacron/B-50 string instead.

But once I put on a better string with beaver balls, the Sage is actually quite quiet. For $150, it's a solid entry level recurve.

As others have mentioned a quality string makes a huge difference.Something else to help is mole skin in the limb pockets it really helps.I have also had good results with the brace height set about 8 1/4 inches good luck and have fun shooting.

Thanks for all the info, we've adjusted the brace height, started shooting split finger vs. 3 under, dumped the factory string and I'm making my Dad wool string silencers. We can already hear a big difference.

I made a fast flite plus string for my brother's and it made a huge difference. Some cat whiskers and it shots like any of my custom bows
