One shaft tuning!!!

Whats your thoughts on bow tuning by just using one bareshaft.
Would a bow be considered tuned if it would shoot a bare shaft straight and where you were looking?

That's pretty much it IMO. I sometimes shoot bareshafts at 3D just to make sure they are flying right.

You should be good to go. Put your feathers on and a BH and let it fly. I would be surprised if it did not shoot good.

On another site they were warning against doing that with a broadhead...so I screwed a broadhead on a bareshaft and shot it just to see...some shots went quite a bit astray...one shot at ten yards or so would have punched the lungs out of a deer...I have a feeling that bareshaft broadhead shooting would be a great way to check on how clean your releases are...I think the difference is in the quality of the release...I am going to be doing a lot more single bareshaft broadhead shooting in the coming days before the season

With a compound bare shaft/broadhead tuning is the ultimate indicator of a great tune. I do think that inconsistent release would make it difficult with trad gear.

I have found that if you shoot 5 or 6 tuned bare shafts you will find out just how bad you are  releasing your arrows. I have started to shoot a few bares with my fletched to check my grouping.Best yet is usually 3-4 out of 6 for the bare shafts.

My opinion : I think it’s fine using one bare shaft, but you need to warm up as much as possible to make sure your release is good and clean, before you release the bareshaft!

My Opinion: You said would a bow be tuned, NO! The shaft would be tuned. I hate to be so technical, but you have to get the shaft tuned to the bow first, and then you fine tune the bow to the shaft: Such as brace height, string silencers, side plate, arrow rest.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong!

You would think that if your bare shaft is sticking in the target straight then that arrow would be good to go after fletching. However, it doesn't work that way for me and I'd like to hear more opinions on the issue from those with more experience. Maybe I just have a really bad release or form....or both but, if I get a bare shaft sticking in the target straight and hitting where I'm looking then that arrow shows too stiff after fletching and impacts several inches to the right for me being a lefty. Therefore, I have to shoot an arrow that shows very weak when bareshafting to get the point of impact that I'm looking for.

I don't have much experience , but its the same for me. Bareshaft will hit right where i'm looking but they don't necessarily fly perfectily straight getting there. If i use a heavier spine size it flies perfectly to the target.  But like you said, fletch it and it shoots a foot to the right. (southpaw) I posted about this earlier. 2016s and 2018s were flying good  without fletching from my setup. The 2016s i could see kicking a little, the 2018s flew like darts. Very strange occurence. I bought Zwickey delta 2 blade broadheads which are 1 3/8" wide. They fly like darts on the 2016s, hitting right with the bareshafts and fletched arrows. The 2018s hit way right with the deltas. Both arrows the bareshafts and fletched arrows shot together at 20 yards, screw on a big broadhead and suddenly i have a clear winner. I am new at this, but i wouldn't trust the results from just a bareshaft. Please do not forget i am very new to stick bows, just sharing my experience. Just happy I finally have things figured out with my setup .  Matt

carbons or aluminum 1 shaft is fine but Woods I like bare shaft shooting 3 and 6 at a time to find the average because the spines and grain weights vary fluctuate a bit..
