Elk Oufitter recommendations?
« on: July 18, 2013, 11:03:00 AM »
Thinking of setting up an elk hunt in 2014.  First year in 23 years that i will be able to take vacation time in September.  Looking for outfitter that knows archery hunting not a rifle guide.  Not looking for 350" bull, but rather for number of elk.  Lodge, tent, horses, dont matter - but more wilderness experience the better for me.  I would stay in lodge to see animals if for some reason that would help.  I went a few years ago in NW Montana - beautiful hikes, bulls did respond a little but i saw 1 cow in 6 days ( so thick).

Any suggestions?

4 of us TradGangers are scheduled to go with Bill Perry at Hidden Creek Oufitters in Wyoming this September.

The hunt is in a Wilderness area where we are going to ride in @30 miles (8 hrs)to the camp.  From what I have heard from Mike at Pine Hollow Longbows is that this is a great hunting adventure.

I hope we will have a great story to tell at the end of september.  I know Mike will be writing an article about the hunt and sure it will appear in Traditional Bowhunter since he is a regular contributor to that publication.

I know Mike asked the question, but I really appreciate these recommendations.  Something I have been thinking about also.

I'm also headed west for elk in 2014 and doing an 8-10 day drop camp hunt in CO. Have yet to decide on an outfitter. So much info, so little time.
