What carbons for a 40#  bow.  Give me some options as I can't afford $100.00 a dozen arrows.

I just got some blemished carbons from Big Jim's for dirt cheap. Best price I have found yet on carbons. I highly recommend them.

I shoot 600 spine out of 40# bows. That is also sometimes designated 1535. If you want to shoot a heavier point or a longer shaft, 500 spine or 3555 sometimes works better.

A lot depends on how long your arrows are and how close to center shot your bow is...and like Meathhook said your draw length and the point weight you would like to use.

The more information you give, the better the advice you will get.  Keep in mind that nobody can give you anything closer than an educated guess, you have to tune from there.

With a 29" draw I'd start with a full length .500 and tune with point weight or by cutting back so the 125 grain points bare shaft tune well.
