What broadheads do y'all prefer for whitetails? Magnus Stingers or Buzzcuts?

Thanks...Scott.

I have never shot either but I have eyed both pretty close. If I was going to pick one it would have to be the stinger. I just don't see how you would ever resharpen the serrated edge on the buzz cut.

I am an exclusive Stinger user and have killed quite a few deer with them. I have always had great trails, though rarely need them. Most of the time they pile up in hearing distance.

Last season I destroyed one on a leg bone, after travelling through the engine room. Magnus quickly sent me a new one. I have had a few loose bleeder blades and Magnus quickly sent new ones.

As with any head, you have to touch up the keen edges at least every other day at camp. Daily in/out of quiver, brushing up against leaves, etc does take away that keen bite edge from any head.

I think maintaining the edge is more important than brand, though brand is important.

I do not like serrated edges. Read the attached link and you'll see why.

I'm a huge fan of the Buzzcut. I use a KME broadhead sharpener to keep the edge like a razor and it's easy to do. Nothing slips past this edge even if dulled on bone.

I should add that very little coagulation occurs during the 10 or 15 seconds the animal is alive after the arrow passes through it's rib cage.

I have no experience but I will be hunting with the Magnus Stinger this year. I don't like serrated edges either, a clean razor edge cuts with less force in my opinion. I also shoot a light poundage bow so it's subjective I think. Charlie is right though either way, the deer will be dead before it matters as long as you do your part.

I have read much of the pros and cons of the Buzzcut's serrated edge as it has been debated many times on many forums.  And if you ask the designer which style he prefers to hunt with himself, he has always said the Buzzcut.  He emphasizes it makes a definite difference when shooting lower poundage as in under 40 lbs.

Agree!! The buzzcut cost the same as the regular stinger but I like having the added benefit of the serrations. Since going to a KME and buzzcuts the blood trails are getting shorter and brighter

I like them both but personally prefer the Buzzcut of the two.  Mike at Magnus does too.  I will tell you though when we sold Buzzcuts regular Stingers outsold them 10 to 1, so that tells you what a lot of Trad Archers think.

I have had no trouble resharpening Buzzcuts with a diamond rod.

Gonna be using Stingers for the first time this coming season. 125 gr. with bleeders. I use a KME broadhead sharpener so sharpening them will be a non-issue. At least that's the way it is with my regular Magnus two-bladed vented heads.

Can't wait!

The regular Stingers have worked really well for me.    Sure the Buzzcuts are a fine head as well.

How do you resharpen the bleeder blades on these heads?

Used the buzzcuts when I shot compounds..... They are devastaing. I have not used them since switching to 100% trad, but I would not be opposed to using them again, went to the VPA s and its hard to switch now:)

I liked both and used both when I shot 125 heads.  I could sharpen them ok, but if it became problematic, I just sent them back and received brand new replacements.

More important than the serrations/no serrations is using the 4 blade...just my opinion.

We are shooting all buzzcuts this year, I blew through a doe with one last season, I don't even think it noticed the deer in it's way and buried into the frozen sandy ground several inches. Arrow in the picture is a full length 32" arrow. I'm sure a stinger would have performed similarly. Had a four blade  125 gr buzzcut on it. I also know a guy that got a pass through on a ranch buffalo with tradgear and a buzzcut.
