need a new bow
« on: September 02, 2007, 09:36:00 PM »
jsut got my imapla back after loaning it out for a year, It was missing a piecxe that helps secure the limb to the riser, I got that fixed but after I strang it up I realized that the bottom limb is twisted.  It's going to cost almost as much to replace the limbs as I paid for the bow, so I figured I'd use this as an opportunity to get a new one.  I'm still a beginner and I'm looking for a recurve in the 45-50 # range I'd like a takedown but I've also been looking alot at the martin rebel, the x 200, the checkmate falcon, or the fred bear grizzly, I'd like some feed back and am open to suggestions I'd like to spend less than 300, less than 250 would be optimal. THanks.

Not that I would ever discourage anybody from buying yet another bow, having run out of wall space myself, but have you done a search here on techniques for straightening limbs? A quick one revealed this thread in the "How-To" forum.

chek-mate falcon would fit the bill well...around $240 or so...contact chad at recurves.com or try archerybymail.com or gmarchery.com or archersnook.com

I got a falcon deluxe for my wife, and while I had to take the grip down a bit for her small hands, I really like the bow a lot!!

take care,
marc

You can't go wrong with a  Falcon excellent bow my wife has one and I just gave mine to my brother they also have excellent customer service and if you are willing to wait a while you can order the type of wood you want for very little extra charge. Good luck Delin

I've owned both the Chek-Mate Falcon and the Martin X-200.  Both are excellent bows.  bought my Falcon used but my X-200 cost $306.00 with shipping.

Is your Impala a PSE?  If so, I had one I bowfished with that had the same problem and PSE sent me a new set.
