I have 2 short brimmed caps from Big Jim, one in brown camo and the other in green.  For colder weather I have several fleece or wool caps. These also have a very short brim or none at all. My full brim felt hats have to cocked to the left a good bit or the string hits them, which is a distraction.

Another vote for the big Jim wire brimmed hat.  Love mine.

I went back and forth between the camo ones before I bought mine.  I ended up going with the camo brown and really like it.

I bought the cheapest cotton boonie I could find at walmart and washed it soft.  The newer military boonies are too stiff for my taste.

Has anyone ever seen/used the specops boonie's. They come highly recommended but look bulky.

If I'm shooting around, I wear the ball cap backwards- For hunting I wear a lightweight smartwool beanie.  I like it so much I have two.  It's not too hot when I'm sitting and covers up my giant glowing ears.  If I'm on the move, it goes into my pocket until I'm posted up again.  I have problems with the string catching the brim on a boonie hat, but love them for scouting!

I picked up a hat similar to the tradgang one at the CTAS shoot, I'm really liking it, wish it had a mesh top or something though, can be kind of warm.

Kuiu has a pre-order on their boonie hats.  Their regular hats are fantastic.
