Southern Plains Shoot at McAAP
« on: August 04, 2013, 04:20:00 PM »
Had a great time with some buddies and my son down at the Southern Plains shoot in McAlester Ammunition Plant.

Here's a few pics...

Waiting for the first target... making up our excuses in advance.     :jumper:

They did a great job positioning targets with TINY shooting holes!

There is a bear reared up behind that tree.

My son shooting at the flying duck over water.

...and another wet arrow!

...and more wet arrows!     :biglaugh:

My nostril shot on a quartering hard away buck.

Sweet target!

Pretty long shot at the Ram which you can barely see cause it's in the shade in those trees.  The guy shooting here shot an impressive 110 or 115... something much better than my 74.

Thanks to the Backwood Bowhunter guys for putting this together!

I have been wanting to make this shoot for years and just have not been able to make it work. One of these days I'll get up there.

Looks like y'all had a great time!

I had a great time at the shoot even though I shot horribly. Some of the shots didn't leave you much room for error. Great setup and a lot of fun.

I heard they canceled the velvet tour. Did you see the video of the deer this year or hear any info on the herd?  As much as I wish I could make the shoot I am even more excited to get to hunt again up there.  Looks like the vegetation is in good shape for the first of August.

Thanks for the post.

Very cool! The flying duck looks like a lot of fun.

They did cancel the tours. Not really sure why they did.

Budget cuts on base.  They couldn't pay the drivers and biologists do do it. I guess they are working mandatory 38 hr weeks or something like that.

Hey Tim. Thanks for the pics.  Really wanted to go this year but couldn't on that day.  Looks like everyone had fun.
