PVC recurve
« on: August 08, 2013, 07:54:00 AM »
I would like to share with you guys an idea for introducing kids to our sport.I know PVC bows have been shown in the past but this one have an interesting twist. The bows were made by a friend for introducing students to archery in their school but without spending too much.

Those are pretty cool! And for a great cause.

I was wondering, though, how do they shoot?

they actually shoot surprisingly well. i have a friend who made some just like those (i think he learned from the Backyard Bowyer on Youtube). we estimated that they were pulling close to 40 pounds. they really had good cast to them! pretty interesting concept. kinda like selfbows in a way.

Someone brought one into the shop last week. It felt nice and smooth pulling it back, the cast seemed good, but the hand shock was jarring. I believe that you would have to get some of the weight out of the tips by narrowing them.
