Just a buddy's wife's yes away from 1st elk hunt!
« on: August 08, 2013, 09:42:00 PM »
Super stoked to here the word from my buddy's wife, he's pretty sure it'll be yes since he goes at least every other year. Just met the guy a couple years ago on a job site and have become friends. This morning he offered up the prize and I jumped at the opportunity, well sort of I knew I would have to get approval at home first. She said have fun! AWSOME!!!!!!   :bigsmyl:

at our cigar club last Tuesday, one of the guys told us he had to appear in court in Spokane on some issue related to this job-he's in our department of transportation.  The case prior to his was one of a new elk hunter who shot a horse.  He related how the judge listened attentively to the game warden's story of this new elk hunter, and how he shot the horse out from under it's rider.  The judge turns to the hunter and asks if he's got anything to say in his defense, and the guy replies "Your honor, I truly thought it was an elk", to which the judge, turning red in the face, asks " and just who the devil did you think was RIDING the elk???".  Fortunately, I don't think bowhunters would have any difficulty seeing someone riding an elk, since we pretty much need to be really close, compared to a Remington 700 in .300WSM!  So good luck on your first elk adventure!

Reminds me of the oft told tale in Wyoming of a guy who came to a G and F check station, and presented his moose tag along with the dead mule in the back of his pickup. Truth or rural legend, but makes for a good story.

It's morphed into the guy who brings his prize into the game station, and the warden says "nice Llama!".

Kenny I've never been on a hunting trip so I may have to do that. I've got one to build for the NTA rendezvous raffle first then I'll see if I still got enough time.
