My new bow-nice
« on: August 17, 2013, 01:59:00 PM »
Picked it up at a pawn shop yesterday, in really nice shape, asking $190.00, got it for $130.00, i am happy man. It says #50@28, feels like at least #5 heavier. String was junk, i made a new one this morning, B-50 flemish, cat whiskers, adjustable nock pt, 8" braceheight, shoots great, hits hard. Has some camo paint on limb tips, anyone know how to get that off without wrecking the finish?

I had one just like it. They're great shooters, and good lookin too. I tried finding som info on mine but came up kinda blank. I think they're from the 90's. the serial number indicates the year but its wierd how they do it, and still hard to tell.
You got a great deal on it, you could easily double your investment if you wanted to.

Just took some mineral spirits and fine steel wool and the rest of the camo paint came off, looks much better now.

Nice bow. My cousin has a new Hunter, 45@28, and it is smooth. I'm getting my 1st Hunter in 2 weeks, hopefully...

Ive been shooting this bow alot last couple days, this will be my hunting bow this season. I bought a new 3 arrow Kwikee Kwiver for it and a used string tracker to try this year, put them both on the bow, loaded the quiver, still shoots great, i am loving this bow. Now i starting to wonder why i pay $700-$1200 for some of my bows.

Great deal on a great bow. Congrats!

I have heard that Martin bows used to write the draw weight on their bows a little lighter than they actually scaled at. This made them shoot a little faster than the competition, which, it seemed, would be the same draw weight, when actually the Martin would be a heavier draw weight than it was claimed to be. That may be why it feels like it's more than 50#?

Every Hunter I ever had was about 5# heavier than marked. They are kinda known for that.  Great deal on a fine bow!

Excellent production recurve right there!  I used to live near a Martin/Howatt pro shop in Alaska and the owner and I had many discussions as to the benefit/weakness of my old K-mag.  I really wanted a hunter or Mamba, but could never justify letting my Bear go to the rack lol.  Grats on an excellent find! I have no doubt it will serve you well
