Retired AF guy looking for some hunting partners
« on: August 19, 2013, 02:21:00 PM »
Not sure this is correct forum but I’m looking for some hunting partners?  Anyways, I returned back to traditional archery two years ago (last year was first year I have bow hunted since I moved from Montana 8 years ago).   I am looking to meet up with some fellow trad hunters that would like, or welcome, a new hunting buddy to share some hunts together.  I am 51 years old, retired USAF,  good physical shape, and ready for some new challenges.  I’d like to take a least one hunting trip a year and wouldn’t mind working with someone to film each other’s hunts.  I’ve got about 25+ years of experience chasing big game with recurves and longbows.   I currently live near Wichita Falls, Texas and I don’t know anyone that shoots/hunts with stick and string.  I’ve usually hunted alone and have backpacked into some pretty remote areas in new Mexico, Montana and Colorado.   Any interested please shoot me a PM.  I am really tired of hunting alone and would like to meet up with the right folks to enjoy some future hunts together.

Come on back up to Montana. I'll hunt with you!    :)
I'm sure somebody in your neighborhood will chime in.
Good luck in the search Dave.    :archer2:

Wish I was closer to you. Never know, though. Might try and meet up sometime. Do you have any places close by? All my Texas hunting is done on pirate land, that I'm a guest on, or I'd invite you here. Texas public land isn't very plentiful in my limited opinion. Arkansas, on the other hand, has lots of it, and I hunt there quite a bit.

PM me sometime and we might be able to work something out.

And THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE!

Thanks for all the replies -

Phillip - the pig hunt in Spring would be great - I replied to your PM

Pow Duck - I am always open to E Tex and Arkansas hunts

Beaver#1 - thats my home town area (Gilmer) perhaps we can plan something?

I don't mind traveling and I would like to find someone that would like to start taking some out of state hunts (guided or DIY).  Just makes it so much more fun when the same group plan/takes hunting trips together each fall.  For Texas/Oklahoma folks, I also wouldn't mind getting in on a good bow hunting only lease.

I know. I left from 1991-1996 to Washington state and had to move back. I was born and raised here, so it was tough.
I realize, though, that a person needs to make home where you are and make the most of it.
Good luck on findng hunting partners and the hunts.
If you do get back here though.......   :campfire:

there is still a bit of corp or engineer land that is free to the public to hunt its not the best bu its out of the house.  there is also quite a bit of type 2 land just north of mt pleasant which i have heard alot of good about but it has some weird rules to go with it.  i have been thinking really hard about a diy elk hunt somehwhere that has otc tags. but have yet to pull the trigger and do all the research that goes into that

I've spent some time at Sheppard as well, Tech school, 7-level school, QA school. If you ever feel like driving to La, let me know.
