Been sittin on a chunk of cordovan for quite a while....along with a few sheets of kydex (don't ask...another incomplete idea). So tonight, feeling extra manic, I added one hair brained scheme to the mix and came up with this concoction.
Now it's loosely based on the shape of the Angel tab, the best darn split finger tab out there. I've tried the Bateman 3 unders, and well....they just don't do it for me. I wanted something a little more mil-spec and familiar feeling (thus the general Angel dimensions). You'll note that the highest point on the pointer finger side is right up near the kydex plate. The Angel is cut like this and man, it makes all the difference in setting up on the string 3 under....no excess tab face flopping around at all!
Here's the back side....you can see I used the ol' gutted 550 cord and a cordlock (ala the Cav tab) to keep the thing on my hand
Here's a cross section shot showing the kydex sandwich of cordovan and inner tube. I used a belt sander to even it all up....sure would like to find someone who could build me a "whack it with a mallet" type clicker plate (that's like a sharp cookie cutter for those who don't speak leathersmithin...LOL...I learned it from Albertakid)....anyhow, here's the pic:
Whadya all think?
