Can black widow take the weight off?
« on: August 25, 2013, 06:36:00 PM »
If I were to buy a used black widow and I decide the weight is too much, could I send it back to them and have a couple lbs taken off? If possible, any idea of the cost? Thanks

Get the serial # off the bow, then call BW. They can check their records and tell you how much can be taken off that particular bow. I'm thinking it will cost you a little over $100, maybe $150

I just sent in a 2pc longbow.  They were able to take 10 lbs off.  It was $230.  They have another set of PSA limbs right now that should be about done.  Toby called me last week and told me they took off about 7 lbs.  He was going to try to get more if he could.  All bows are different.

At the same time, for no additional charge I would imagine, they could re-tiller the bow from split to 3 under, or vice versa, since the process is the same as for weight reduction, although only done to one limb if the purpose is re-tillering.

I would imagine they could take off 5 pounds, maybe more, unless somebody who owned the bow before you has already done that.

Yup, called them up and gave them the serial # off a PLV TD I had and they said they could reduce it.  Ended up 5 lbs lighter than when I had it made.

I'm going to pick the bow up Tuesday so I'll know by the weekend if it's too much. I don't think it will be, I can shoot my 60# recurve and longbow for a pretty good while without tiring. But 6# is a pretty good jump (the bow is a 58" TF III 66@28) and i was just curious if taking weight off was even possible. Might see if they will take the previous owners name off while they're at it too. Thanks guys

BW took 9lbs off my SAII. Re-tillered it for 3 under and re-finished it as well. TonyZ.
