Hoyt Buffalo

Thinking about buying one. I always see them for sale and everyone comments on how great à bow they are. My question is If they are so good why is there so many on the classifieds. Not as many on here but other sites has as many as Bear kodiaks. So my main question is are they worth the money?

Never shot one, but I've met folks who really like them. Who knows why they're always for sale? Just be glad you can get one below retail. Black Widows are great bows, and very popular, and yet there's always some in the classifieds.

I had one and it was without a doubt one of, if not the best recurve that I have ever shot.  I was really surprised by that.  I just enjoy shooting longbows much more so that is why I sent mine down the road.  If you get one, I don't think that you'll regret it!

Love mine and definitely the best shooting recurve I have ever shot and I have shot alot of them.  Use to own a couple of Bob Lee bows then got into BW bows and shot them for 12-13 years, ended up have 5 of them, but after shooting my Buffalo for 1 season, I sold all my BW bows and ordered a 2nd Hoyt Buffalo and shoots even better then my 1st one.  I am sold!

I have picked up two used ones and a extra set of limbs for some great deals.
I think most people buy them with to heavy of limbs or don't have the time to invest in shooting them. Or they are bow junkies like the rest of us.

I've owned one with two sets of limbs for 2 1/2 years and they are really good shooting bows. If you want a SUPERIOR shooting Buffalo buy a pair of Hoyt F series limbs. They are very "pointable" for me.

Ignore the detractors who knock them because they aren't ILF and aren't drilled for a plunger.

I wouldn't pay full price for one since there are many on the used market. There are a lot of Widows there too.

Buffalo is a great bow. I have owned them all at one time or another and the Buff ranks up near the top.

The Buffalo riser is a bit heavy... Because the bow is largely machine-made, it lacks "soul" for me. It shoots beautifully. Regardless, after 8-10 months, I sold the two I owned. Just never could get excited by them. The Hoyts do not have the same feel as a handmade recurve, imho.

How do they compare to a widow, performance wise?

According to Blacky Schwartz about the same. That is the impression I got too shooting every widow I could get my hands on.

The Hoyt buffalo is a great shooting bow if you do pull the trigger on one you will not regret it its a very forgiving bow as its cut past center. It shoots a wide range of arrow combinations and tends to hit were your looking

There is a 50#er on the classifieds right now with the bow quiver at a good price.

I have other bows which are as good or better than the Buffalo but I do consider them excellent hunting bows and I'll hunt with mine this year again.

Yeah, fantastic bow. I thought my Gamemaster was the best recurve I ever shot. The Buffalo is even better. Hoyt still knows a thing or two about building recurves.
