South Texas hogs?
« on: September 02, 2013, 02:48:00 PM »
I'm in the Galveston area util the first of the year. Being from Nevada I've never even seen a wild hog. I've heard they have hog hunting down here but where? What are the legalities? I sure would would like to have a go at it while I'm here, I hear so much about it.

Look up First Point for low fence free range.

Hogs are not a game animal in Texas and can be hunted anytime, day or night! There are a ton of places that have hog hunts by the day for a daily fee.

Hog hunting is a blast!

Thanks fellas I gotta check it out before I leave Texas. I'm down In Hitchcock right now with my travel trailer. Supposed to go to work on these refinery shutdowns.

How in the world could they be shutting down refineries? There are more wells going in every day all over south TX!

He means they are temporarily shutting down to do a lot of maintenance or to expand. Some good overtime $$$ to be had I'm sure  :)

I'll be flyfishing the coast in the Matagorda WMA region next week. I planned on looking that area over while I'm down there. If it looks like it'd be worth your drive down from Galveston, I'll give you a report on where to go.

They shut them down for a little maintenance and rework each year for a short period. Parts of them and definitley not all at once. You wouldn't believe all the refineries, I was shocked. Boy Vanilla I'm jealous of your fly fishing. I do a little in Nevada. I did get a license and caught some fish with a regular pole off the dock down here. It was fun, never fished saltwater before. Right now I have weekends off and would enjoy taking a look with you. Or exploring your suggestions, as long as it's not too far. Thanks
