My family and I have a rather large camp house with a stove and everything and we almost always enjoy deer or hog tenderloins.

truck camping, anything goes. backpacking, moutain house and other dried food  are about the only way to go. must have a source of good water though, and a reliable stove. I think from my experiments the homemade alchohol "catcan stove" is hard to beat.no moving parts to malfunction, and a bottle of heet will do many meals.
its me, against me.

Corned beef hash is something that I love when out in the woods, but can't stand at home!
Life is a whole lot easier when you just plow around the stump.

Just got back from elk camp and I ate like a king too- I had no idea my new hunting partner ate so well. We had delicious steaks and chicken for diners. Biscuits and gravy with sausage for breakfast.

I like whatever can get cooked in the microwave and not make a lot of mess to clean up. I usually cook extra portions all week before I go to the lease so I have good stuff to eat while hunting. I hunt by myself 90% of the time so meals are not a big thing. I do like to get a good nights sleep though and have no desire to be up cleaning dishes when I could be getting much needed rest for the next mornings hunt.

Good pot of spaghetti is awesome after a hard days hunt. chop some fresh tomatoes. fresh oregano, garlic, couple of cans of tomatoe sauce, an onion, brown up some hamburger with the seasoning and tomatoes. add a couple of tablespoons of light red chili powder a little cayenne. simmer just a bit and pour it over some spaghetti . Add some parmejano and some garlic bread browned over the coals and mmmmmmmmmm . Now that is some eatin. But if you are plum worn out just heat up a big can of Dinty Moore beef stew , eat that and cook the spaghetti the next night.
Now if you want to talk some real good food lets talk dutch oven and a good roast with a bunch of veggies cooked in the coals all day long. If you have someone staying in camp. that is hard to beat. Specially when served with some hot biscuits and honey butter. MMMMMMMM Now that is eatin.
Next night you might have some T bones about and inch and a half thick cooked over the coals with some fresh ear corn. I like the white and yellow. Wrapped in tin foil with some butter and salt and pepper.
This will do in a pinch if you are really roughing it.

God bless, Steve

Granola bar.  Fried spam sandwich. I carried the same unopened can of peaches on hunts for nearly 10 years -- no one ever wanted to eat em.

Odd, my first post past 4,000 is about that old can of peaches!

If truck camping I start vacuum sealing a helpings worth of leftovers from whatever the wife's cooked for dinner. Just put it on a plate and set it in the freezer til it starts to firm up, vacuum seal it then freeze it. All you have to do to prepare it is put it in a pot of boiling water for 15-20 minutes, no dishes to wash for the most part and it taste just like it did the night your wife cooked it!! I've done this with all sorts of different types of meals and it really works well. Plus they last a long time in the freezer so you can start preparing meals well in advance of your trip.
