Leave of absence over....
« on: September 07, 2013, 05:41:00 PM »
I was a hardcore recurve hunter for 8 years or so. Had a great time and put alot of meat in the freezer, but my shoulders were bothering me. I shot way too much and spent a ton of money on bows and more bows...ya'll know what Im talkin about   :knothead:

Anyway..I hung it up bout two or three years ago, sold all my stuff cept for an old Kodiak Hunter and my glove.

Its time here to get ready for deer season, but I couldn't find my release aid for my compound.Looked on the wall at the old 50lb Bear and said what the heck, lets see if I still got it going on.   ;)

Only arrow I  had left for trad was a  29in 2114 fletched with 5in shields. Spun on a 150gr two blade, checked my brace, nock height and headed out to shoot.

Rough at first I have to say, but after playing with my brace a little and finding my form again I believe Im gonna need to buy some arrows to fill my quiver.   :)   If anyone has 2114's 30in long for sale let me know.

The human eye and mind once trained is an amazing thing. After so long away from instinctive it came back very quickly. Im keeping my shots under the 25yrd range for hunting this year, but I was putting them in my 3d deer vitals fairly easily out to 35yds. when I did miss it was barely under everytime   :D   Good feeling right there.

I think if I keep my practice short and just a couple days a week with this 50pounder my shoulders will be fine. Im really lookin forward to pinning a fat doe in a few weeks!   :goldtooth:

Good luck to everyone this season and be safe first!!!

I remember reading Robert when you announced selling your gear and getting out of Trad, felt sad to say the least.  But I know how life is and things get complicated at times, welcome back not just for the gear we use but for the fraternity we are part of, good to see you here again Brother!
Everything I have and have become is due to the Lord and his great mercy.
