Brace height question

I understand that the high point of the arrow shelf should be on the same line as the low point in the riser grip. But on most of my bows, that's not the case. So which point should be used to measure brace height when they're not in line? Does it really matter?

I have always heard measure it to the deepest part of the grip.  If the shelf isn't perfectly like you like it, a little sand paper does the trick.  But in my opinion, if it shoots good, quiet, and doesn't slap your arm, don't worry about all the specs of it.

The way I see it, the brace height I record for each of my bows, once I determine what works best on that bow, is specific to that bow.

Therefore, I always measure to the lowest point of the grip, knowing I can repeat that measurement any time I install a new string. It might be different from what someone else might measure, but it's a meaningful, repeatable measurement for me.

it is easy to over think it. .  And i have had a disaster or two with sandpaper myself! lol.  

I guess to clarify, i was not implying don't worry about brace height.  You should definitely measure and record what every your brace height is, just don't be so worry about exactly where to measure etc.  Where ever you measure, measure there every time and you will get the same results!
