longbow quiver
« on: September 24, 2013, 05:47:00 PM »
I have a Big Jim's strap-on quiver for my Whip.  I like it but usually remove the quiver while hunting.  Issue: Due to several ons and offs, broadheads are slipping out of the hood when shooting with the quiver on and I have had the two pieces seperate, sending the arrows (unprotected) to the forest floor.  So I need a new suggestion on a quiver where the two parts (hood and shaft grippers) are attached.  I want a strap-on style in order to avoid cosmetic damage to the bow.  Please advise and best of luck to you and yours.

Tom B.
Best of Luck!

I am using the Kanati Dual ARC and so far I really like it. I am shooting two blades and have the Slim Jim model. Very easy to put on and take off.

If you remove it when hunting why not switch styles of quiver completely?  Try a back quiver, side quiver, or one that goes over your shoulder and hangs at your side. Just a thought.
Good luck. Tom

TKJ68--Do you have suggestions on which quivers in particular would work?  I really like the idea of the bow-on quiver but, hey, a feller can learn new stuff sometimes.
Best of Luck!

We have a bracket that will joint the hood to the gripper. It can also set the arrows back in line with the bottom limb if desired. It can be retro-ed to your existing quiver.

thanks, bigjim

Well, tell me some more big jim.  I really like the quiver but would like to have the two pieces attached.  Just seems easier when hanging it up in the tree while hunting.
Best of Luck!

I have a Big Jim's  with the bracket on one of his TC longbows and while I don't take the quiver off typically while in stand, the bracket solves the problem you described and it does change the angle of the arrows back favorably.

Me personally, I'm a side quiver guy.  Bowmate Elite is my choice but Safari Tuff is equally awesome.  If you ground hunt and you've never tried a modern side quiver you're in for a treat.

The bracket from Jim sounds like a plan.

I like my Kanati Dual Arc a lot.  However, if you remove it for hunting, why not look for a nice side, hip, or back quiver to your liking?

Cedar Ridge leather makes a very nice quiver that hangs from the shoulder, Ron LeClair sales the same one. G. Fred Asbell also sales one similar. There was one of the Cedar Ridge made by Art Vincent for sale in the classifieds.  Several people make and sale nice back quivers, this is what i use, i just take it off and hang it in the tree when in stand, first year using one.I hope this helps.

Tombow,
I had a guy from Etsy make me a nice back quiver. I saw him advertise one on there and I asked him if he could make some custom modifications. I love it and people always notice it when I'm at the range. If you're interested in a back quiver or having a custom made, the guys email is [email protected]. He charged me about $100 less than most other places and it was exactly as described. I had him put a pocket and a sheath for my bucknife and sheep lining.
I know it's a little different than a snap on, but the guy can really handle leather.

Also, I didn't mean that post to sound like a sales pitch, I have no vested interest, but he did me right.

if your going to take it on/off a lot, the Great Northern would be my first choice.
