A newbie for sure. Only been hunting with a traditional bow for a few years now. Been fortunate enough to be able to travel some, with bow in hand and even more fortunate to harvest a few animals. The further I walk down this traditional path the more thankful I become of this style of hunting and the people who choose to hunt the same way. The further I get down this path the further away from the "Mainstream" I seem to get. I don't very often but the other day I found myself watching a show on the Outdoor Channel. The name isn't relevant, but during this show the hosts who happened to be a country music "star" drank some beer and ran over a car with a bulldozer. As I watched this and realized that these were "sportsman" same as I claim to be and they had a full public forum and chose to make our sport look like we are all well for lack of a better word.... stupid. I'm grateful for this website. For the people who chose to tread here and post good stuff useful to others. I have been lucky enough to meet a few guys from Trad Gang. All, everyone I have encountered have been stand up individuals. Thanks tradgang. I enjoy this website and all who come here.

I wholeheartedly agree!
I can remember as a boy watching I believe it was American Sportsman and seeing Fred Bear.
I thought it was cool that he did what he did with a bow and that his last name was actually Bear.
I can also remember that moment when, at our local hardware store, I saw the green fiberglass 30# bow on display (it soon became mine) and how excited I was to find out that it was a Fred Bear bow.

To  see how we have evolved into this swill of a cesspool of rednecking, drinking, car crushing, hillbillying, on TV is really disappointing to me.
Can you imagine seeing Fred do that?

I guess I am more of Traditionalist as well, and share your values too.
Love this  site and those that have the respect and values that represent it, much like you guys.

I can't take more than 5 minutes of those " Hunting " shows. Ethics and humility are out the window replaced with showboating morons who do not know the meaning of fair chase.

I think "traditional" values just come with the territory of "traditional" archery and hunting. I fear what the world around me has become and even moreso what it's becoming. I'm quite thankful for the traditional values I have and try to pass on.

I get more enjoyment and fulfillment hunting traditionally even when I miss.....lol

Wish I had started this before I was 58 yrs old but maybe I am just old enough to enjoy the simple purity of a discipline such as hunting and practicing with a stick bow.

Couldn't have said it better myself. You almost got me up on my soapbox for this one...but I better not, been up for almost 37 hours now and have a tendency to ramble when I'm tired.
