holy crap man now thats teasing!!!   Its a place I have yet to explore...wish I could make it I'd be in!!!   I'm putting in for leave for 2014 already as of tonight.   If you need a deer partner holler.  I have 4 day weekends every other week normally.  Getting vacation is tough last minute though I  think I have an 8 day break in nov 2014.

I'm off in dec this fall but have a trip to the east coast planned.

I have been making this a yearly trip. So I plan on doing it again next year. So far I like the 3rd week in November the best. That is when I would have went this year but it did not fall in my work schedule.

The Lynx has worked well for me. Thanks for parting with it.

It is pricy to fly instate in Alaska.  I don't think that the hunt itself is that pricy as it covers everything a place to stay all your meals prepared for you, a place to hang for you to hang and cut your deer, and daily boat drop off and pickup.

Wish I could make it happen this year but this late in the game I'm definatly out.   The govt shut down means no pay, and I don't have time off to pull it off between now and the end of deer seasons.

2014 is a different story.   Lets chat this winter.  We just started putting in our leave schedule for next year and if you go your usual time in 14', my off dates should line up perfectly.

I usually make a few trips down your way throughout the year.   I need to make one after xmas time to meet up with a bamboo rod builder.

Saw you bought a lynx, I have an inflatable kayak also I've used.  Unfortunately my bladders are toast and they don't make the model anymore.  I'm curious what you think of yours, I was looking at a lynx II to replace it ironically, it looks like a pretty sweet ride.   I have the 16' aire cat, she's a beast, if the lynx is built with the same durability in mind I'm thinking its a sweet ride!  I do have a propioneer so if I don't end up with a lynx by than I have something to bob over to Russia on  ;) .

The Lynx I was referring to is a Toelke bow that I bought on this site. The only raft I have is an Alpacka pac raft. I am planning on going again next year. But I think am going to try to do it a week earlier than I am going this year.

How is the deer population? I heard they got hammered last winter and lost a lot?

a week earlier would put me out.  I just got my sched for 2014 and managed to leave it at the shop.   I'll bring it home this week.  If I go mid nov I wont have to mess with vacation time (8 day break).   Right now we're planning a fly out moose, hike/fly sheep, spring turkeys, and I'm sure a trip back south December/jan 15' depending on how next summer goes.  I'm hopefully helping out with a move mid summer, if that happens the dec/jan trip is out.

TFG, I heard the same depending on where on the island you were, I don't know if it was a total crash.   Something to look into here once winter kicks in.

man you had me excited on the aire lynx....I have a sevylor svx200...before anyone laughs I've put this thing through the ringer and back including a 140 mile sheep float.  She's done really well.  Only damage was when a bear decided to make a chew toy of it in 02 on said sheep hunt.  Patched her up and she's good to go, this year dry rot killed the inner chamber.  I really dislike pvc rafts for this reason!

The deer population did get hit pretty hard in some places a couple of years ago. Prince William sound was hit real hard and I think that some parts of Kodiak got hit hard more on the north end of the Island. Last year I seen fewer deer than in previous years but I was still seeing 10 to 20 a day.

Dang, and I had time off right then too.  I snoozed, I loosed.

(So how did it go?)
