Reducing Bow Limb Glare
« on: September 29, 2013, 09:43:00 AM »
The limbs on my longbow are not as matte finished as they used to be.  How difficult would it be to re-finish the limbs?  Are there some short term solutions to reducing the glare?

I have read of people using polish without buffing it. I have never done it myself but I heard It reduces the glare because the flat surface is gone then after you get your game and are back to just target shooting buff the was up. Nice clean bow.

Paste wax and then do not buff it off.  Works pretty well.

You don't need to refinish.Get a rubbing compound like Brownell's Original Stock Rubbing compound and apply it with a rag or paper towel, just like you are waxing the bow.It is made for this specific purpose. It is extremely easy to use and  will give you a nice, even, satin finish. It doesn't remove any finish, just changes the sheeen that you have.It is what custom stock makers use for the purpose.

I wax without buffing and then just light puffs of spray paint over wax.  Easy to remove with a hair dryer but really cuts the glare/shine...tippit
