Super Shrew Gold
« on: September 07, 2007, 09:23:00 PM »
I just received my new Super Shrew Gold from Baretta.  What a beautiful bow.  56", 55# @ 26". Now I need to know from you Shrew shooters where to start with brace height and knock point.  And if anyone can tell me what the serial number means, mine is G56-0805.  Does that mean August 2005.  Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike, yes your bow was built August 2005.  The brace height should be between 7 and 7.5 inches and I usually start with my nock point 3/8" above center.

Tim is right.

If you are thinking about shaft material, that bow will shoot Carbon Vapor 3000's, with about 220 grains up front, like the proverbial dart.

Thanks guys.I have been trying 2016s & 2018s cut to 27". The 2016" are loud and the feathers stick my finger at the shelf of the bow.The 2018s shoot a little better; But I get a tic and I'm not sure why. My nock point is 3/8" above center which makes the bottom of the arrow about a little less than 1/4" above center.  Should I make the knock point so that the bottom of the arrow is 3/8" above center?  Or should I try different arrows?  If anyone shoots a similar setup please post what works for you.
Thanks,
Mike

Congrats on your Super Shrew! I shoot a John McCullough Griffin. It's 56" and 50# @ 26". Was getting that "click" sound until... I raised the nock point higher, brought the brace height out to 7 1/2" and pushed the bow with the web of my hand, not palm down.

Now I can shoot 27.5" 2016's w/ 125 gr. points or 50/55 POC shafts 28" w/125 gr. points.

I would think so...fiddle with your point weight a bit.

I bet that 'click" is coming form the nock point being to low.

I have 58" 56@26 SS Samuri. My nock point is a smidge under 5/8 and my brace is 7 1/4.  I shoot 27.5" Heritage 150's with a 175 grain tip.  Hopefully that will help point you in the right direction.  Good Luck!
