There really is no worry there either way in my opinion as the bow does not flex in the limb tip.  I also add underlays to the belly (see picture) of the bow for both strength and to keep the limb tip nice and stiff.

I never have used a thumb ring Chuck.  I do agree that it would be a cool little bow for bowfishing.
