Homemade micarta arrow nocks
« on: October 09, 2013, 01:11:00 PM »
Hey all, have been bitten by the arrow making bug over last year and recently have been toying with bamboo arrows. Did several using tenbrooks how to. They turned out great. They were for my daughter and she likes the look of separate nocks, ie didn't want self nocks.so I did up her arrows with reg push in nocks . They work great, but I'm thinking as she improves, she's probably going to chew up that plastic. I had thought about hardwood, but some folks liked, and some didn't. Anyway I play around with knife making and have some homemade micarta laying around and thought that if shaped properly they could make some very tough very customize able arrow nocks. Custom colors, custom striping. Etc. I'm mainly wondering if they will be too heavy. Any thoughts?

I think it would be fine. On my bamboo arrows i turned hardwood to the hole diameter, glued in and selfnocked them.
