Back in the saddle...
« on: October 17, 2013, 09:24:00 AM »
Well, after a lengthy hiatus from this site and my usual hunting schedule, both due to adding a new member to the family (kid number 3), a career change, and two moves, I am finally back in the swing of things.

My past couple of hunting seasons have been limited, although a buddy of mine who works a lot of mandatory overtime said if I mention my "limited" hunting time in his presence again he would punch me in the ear. Who needs enemies when you have friends like him, right?

Although my time was limited,I was lucky enough to connect on a buck last season.

Thanks guys and gal.

I assure you my successes are not a product of any exceptional skill.  I am fortunate to have excellent property to hunt.  Three out of four of my most recent bucks have been shot on the same 26 acre property.

Hunted Tuesday evening and passed a good buck. Regret is beginning to manifest. Knowledge of two or three 150-160 class bucks in the area led to the decision. Now I'm thinking of the proverb "One in the hand is worth two in the bush."

Back in the woods tonight. No luck. Let my heart overrule my brain and hunted a stand sooner after hanging it than I should have.

I have high expectations for this place and this season.
