I've been seeing more bears than deer this year one sow with two cubs another sow with three cubs and two big males had them all at 15yrds. Give or take. And all on the ground. Video taped them all the sow with 3 cubs. We're. Running after. A. Nice. 8. With 3does that. Ran. By. I'm Glad. I didn't. Have any peanut butter sandwiches. On. Me. But. Wow ,

What's the story with bear season in NJ? Is there on? And are people pretty successful?

We have the same problem here in Va. The property I hunt. The owner has a video w/ 14, yes 14 bears in one frame in a cornfield. Seems once one kills one, they have no intent on killing another. The farmer that plants the corn is begging me to kill them. Of the 10 or so acres he planted this year. The bears have destroyed 2+ acres of it.

1 bear destroys more crops then 10 deer.
They are on the rise around me as well. Locals believe that when there is a "problem" bear in a residential area that our area is a drop off point. 20 years ago if someone saw 1 bear it was a real big deal, it was the gossip of the neighborhood that someone saw a bear, now its a common occurance. They turned from a novelty to a nuisance.

I doubt NJ will ever allow bow hunting for bear. They have a hard enough time deciding if you can hunt them at all. There sure are plenty around.

Hooked one fly fishing the Delaware river. Swam right by me. Wanted to put a woolybuger on him. But thought better and let him swim by.

I've seen a total of 9 bears since the season started. The most I've ever encountered in all the years I've been hunting.
