I agree with those above.  I started with a Kitchen aide grinder attachment, and it worked, but it tended to bog the motor and the motor got fairly hot.  I bought a 3/4 HP grinder on sale from Gander Mtn a couple years ago and the difference is nite and day.  

As above, I can't keep up with the capacity of the thing.  I don't think I need a bigger version, though some may.  I am glad I didn't go with the 1/2 HP version as I am completely satisfied with this one.

It also has an attachment available for tenderizing the pieces, using the motor to run it.  Like that too.

Before chiming in, I would ask how much use it would get and do you have a budget?  I do 2-4 deer a year and use the 1000 watt grinder from Northern tool.  It does a great job for what I do for $89.  If you are going to be doing a lot more, go with the Cabelas or LEM model for $250 or $300

My family uses the kitchner #32 grinders with 3/4-1 hp motors. My brother has used his for 10+years for many elk, deer, beef hogs each year. I would use a foot pedal on off switch also because it grinds very fast and can overwhelm the user by the amount of meat coming out. Very fast very reliable.

thanks for all the advice gang. there sure are a lot more grinders out there to choose from than I thought. I'm headed to town this morning to check out a few. I have some meat chilling so I'm hoping to come home with a new one.
