NE Ohio Bound
« on: October 31, 2013, 03:47:00 PM »
Haven't been on here much lately due to family health issues . Burton (Tracker1) and myself were fortunate enough to win the NE Ohio hunt graciously donated by Brian Halblieb . I just got back from visiting my Family in Florida Tuesday morning and am leaving for Ohio tomorrow morning . Things have been hectic but I did manage to go gator hunting one night and shot a 9 footer . Lord willing I will do as well in Ohio . And as some of you know I also won the hunt donated by Darren Shue in Illinois . I will be hunting about a week or so in Ohio and then head off to Illinois for a few days . The only drawback is the driving but it's a small price to pay . I am looking forward to meeting Burton and Brian and getting a chance to bag my first Ohio buck . I can't say enough about Darren and his family's hospitality as I was lucky enough to win go on this hunt a few years ago and tagged a bunkicker buck ( for me anyway ,the locals called him a "dink" ) but heck I'd shoot dinks all day long if they come as big as that . Got to take my Grandkids trick or treating tonight and get some sleep as I plan to leave around 3 AM . Wish Burton luck and Lord willing I willhave some stories when I get back . Hope everyone's season is memorable , Fred

Good luck and safe travels Fred! You shod have a great time. Deer are moving good right now. High winds today and tomorrow but the weather should be good for your hunt.

Good luck Fred and Burton.  I'm sure you guys are going to have lots of stories after seeing Brian's update a few posts down.

Have a safe trip Fred and I'll see you Friday evening. Burt might be sneaking in an evening hunt and getting one up on ya! Looks like the temperatures are going to cooperate all week and the rut sign is getting heavy now. I hope you guys timed it just right. Here's a link to the hunt thread we'll keep updating all week:

Good luck guys!! I am trucking through OH right now on I-80 and saw a bruiser at 11:30 this morning cruising a woodlot less than 100 yards off the interstate. Only one time of the year do I get to see stuff like that. Also spotted a lot of youngsters this week that didn't make it across the hwy.

Good Luck Fred!

Hope you can connect on big bucks in both states.

Don't worry about my grandpa or uncle calling that deer you shot a few years back a dink.  I'd shoot him on our property too! Jealous that Dad and I cant hunt for big bucks on our own family ground without dropping 500 bones.  Im sure Brian's new place is gonna be just as magical for you.

I hope this thread gets lots of updates because I've been asking Dad and Pop for any info of when you're going out.  I hope you like the updates to the place.  Pop had me paintin' and cleanin' that place up for a month!

Best of luck! - John
